Salt and Light

Have you read the Holy Bible lately? hhhhmmmmnnn... You might be wondering why i asked the question, right? Well, im doing bible reading recently as part of my newly renewed commitment to the Lord.  A particular verses in the holy bible really strikes  me down my spine, it goes like this:

"You are the Salt of the earth.  But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
You are the Light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.  No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.  Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house."

Matthew 5:13-15 [NLT]

After I finished reading it I smiled and said to my self “odd comparison” but I knew that there is something more to it so what I did was I read it over and over and again and again until I finally understand what the passage meant.  I just don’t know if we have the same understanding of the passage but as for me it goes like this:

We as His servants are being compared to the Salt.  The passage said "what good is salt if it has lost its flavor?" like us we are of no use to him if he can’t rely on us.  Hmmmnn, is He, the almighty creator, really relies on us? Yes, God even with his power and greatness is still relying on us.  He wants us to spread the Good News to all his people.  He wants us to help him save as many souls as we can.  You see, God is entrusting us a very important role that we need to fulfill and this is our chance of showing Him how much we value and love Him, how much we want to obey His commandments, and how much willing we are to be saved and to save others through spreading God’s goodness.

As for the light it was compared to our good deeds. When we experienced goodness let us not keep it to ourselves alone but we need to share it to other so they too will experience His ways and when they do they will also return and honor Him.

As an instrument of God it is our primary duty to share His will and commandments to everyone who needs it.  When we received a blessing lets also be a blessing to others.   Let us be reminded to try and to actually do share his goodness to other in our simple little ways.  Later on those simple ways will become an instrument for those who really wanted to go back to our God’s loving arms.
